Whether you're beginning your musical journey, returning to the piano after years away, or looking for a versatile instrument for your home, the FP-40 delivers exceptional sound, realistic touch, and modern connectivity in a sleek, portable design.

Featuring Roland's advanced Piano Reality sound engine, an expressive 88-key PHA-4 Standard keyboard, and seamless integration with the revolutionary Piano Sphere learning app, the FP-40 makes learning, practicing, and performing more enjoyable than ever.

Experience the Rich Sound of a Grand Piano

At the heart of the Roland FP-40 is the remarkable Piano Reality sound engine, inspired by the technology found in Roland's flagship GP Series grand pianos.

Combining premium sampled sounds with advanced modeling technology, Piano Reality captures the depth, warmth, natural resonance, and expressive character of an acoustic grand piano. From delicate passages to powerful performances, every note responds naturally to your playing.

With 256-note polyphony, the FP-40 provides smooth, detailed sound reproduction, even when performing complex compositions or layering instrument sounds.

An enhanced stereo speaker system delivers impressive clarity, spacious sound, and rich low-frequency response, allowing you to experience the full character of your performance without external amplification.

Authentic Piano Touch for Expressive Playing

The Roland FP-40 features the acclaimed 88-key PHA-4 Standard keyboard, designed to reproduce the natural feel and responsiveness of an acoustic grand piano.

Its fully weighted hammer-action design incorporates escapement and Ivory Feel keys, providing a comfortable, realistic playing experience that supports proper technique and expressive control.

Advanced triple-sensor technology accurately detects subtle playing movements, allowing for faster note repetition, improved responsiveness, and greater control over musical expression.

Whether you're developing your skills through lessons or performing demanding repertoire, the FP-40 provides a keyboard action that can grow with you.

Introducing Piano Sphere: A Smarter Way to Learn

One of the FP-40's most exciting innovations is its integration with Roland Piano Sphere, a connected learning experience developed in collaboration with Skoove.

Piano Sphere transforms everyday practice into an engaging musical journey with personalized lessons, interactive feedback, and a library of songs designed to keep musicians motivated.

With 100 included songs spanning popular music and timeless classics, Piano Sphere makes it easy to begin playing music you love. Step-by-step lessons help develop technique, music reading, and confidence, while personalized learning plans adapt to your experience and goals.

The FP-40 can recognize when you're having difficulty with a musical passage and provide a visual prompt through its dedicated Piano Sphere button, encouraging you to access additional guidance.

Practice streaks, achievement badges, and automatic playing-history tracking help musicians celebrate their progress and develop consistent practice habits.

Best of all, the core Piano Sphere experience is available without a subscription. Optional upgrades provide access to an expanded library of more than 1,000 songs and lessons.

Built-In Wi-Fi for a Connected Musical Experience

The Roland FP-40 introduces built-in Wi-Fi connectivity, making it Roland's first digital piano to offer this feature.

Once connected to your home network, the FP-40 can communicate seamlessly with Piano Sphere, track your playing activity, and receive wireless system updates.

This innovative connectivity allows the piano's features and learning experience to evolve over time, helping you get even more enjoyment from your instrument.

The FP-40 also includes Bluetooth Audio and MIDI, allowing you to stream music from a compatible smartphone or tablet, play along with your favorite recordings, and connect with music applications wirelessly.

Explore Hundreds of Inspiring Sounds

While the FP-40 delivers an exceptional acoustic piano experience, its versatility extends far beyond traditional piano sounds.

With 305 built-in instrument tones, musicians can explore expressive electric pianos, organs, strings, and a wide variety of additional sounds.

Forty tones are accessible directly from the instrument, while an additional 265 can be selected through the compatible Roland Piano App.

Dual Mode allows you to layer sounds together for rich musical textures, while Split Mode lets you assign different sounds to each side of the keyboard.

Twin Piano Mode divides the keyboard into two matching ranges, making it especially useful for piano lessons and teacher-student practice.

Powerful Sound in a Portable Design

The Roland FP-40 combines impressive performance with a compact, lightweight design that fits comfortably into nearly any home or music space.

Its enhanced speaker system features two 8 x 12cm speakers powered by a 12W x 2 amplifier, delivering clear, balanced sound with impressive depth and projection.

Weighing approximately 30 pounds, 14 ounces, the FP-40 is easy to move between rooms, transport to rehearsals, or incorporate into a performance setup.

For a traditional home piano appearance, the FP-40 is compatible with the optional Roland KSF-40 furniture-style stand and KPD-70 three-pedal unit.

A headphone connection allows for quiet practice, while Roland's Piano Reality Headphones Ambience technology provides a spacious, natural listening experience.

Modern Connectivity for Practice and Performance

The FP-40 offers a variety of connectivity options designed for today's musicians.

Its USB-C connection supports audio and MIDI communication with compatible computers and smart devices, making it easy to use music production software, educational applications, and recording tools.

Dedicated stereo audio outputs allow connection to external speakers or sound systems, while USB memory support provides convenient playback of compatible music files.

Whether you're practicing at home, participating in online lessons, or exploring digital music production, the FP-40 provides the flexibility to support your musical goals.
