Pops' Double Bass Rosin

Ultra-Soft. Serious Grip. A Bass Section Favorite.

Ask a room full of bassists what rosin they use, and you'll hear one answer more than any other: Pops'. This legendary double bass rosin is known for its ultra-soft, sticky texture that lets the bow really grab the string for a big, full, satisfying sound.

Pops' was created by Len "Pops" Manno, who played double bass with the Houston Symphony for 41 years. It's still hand-mixed in small batches in Houston, Texas, from his original recipe, and it's trusted by students, teachers, and orchestra professionals around the world.

Maximum Grip When You Need It

Because it's so soft, Pops' goes on quickly and delivers exceptional traction. It's especially helpful in cold, dry weather, which makes it a great match for western Pennsylvania winters, and many players use it year-round for the extra grip. A little goes a long way: just a few swipes is usually enough for hours of playing.

Tips for Using Pops'

Pops' comes in a soft wax-paper cup inside its signature red flip-top container. Since it's so soft, it can flow in warm temperatures, so always keep it upright and in its container, and keep it away from heat. Wipe down your bass and strings regularly, since this sticky rosin can build up on the top of the instrument. For the best performance, many players replace their cake each year to keep it fresh.
